Garba Fest 2018 |
Students of MKPC
performed the popular ‘Garba’ in the College Campus on 16th October
2018. The GARBA FEST 2018 was inaugurated by Lamp lighting by Ms. Manjula
Ponda, Founder The Red Rose Group, Mr.
Sumit Ponda Chairman, The Red Rose Group, Ms. Sejal Ponda, Mr. Harshil Ponda,
Executive Director, Ms. Shreya Ponda, Mr.Yashraj Ponda and other dignitaries. The
program started with Ganapati Vandana and was followed by several brief dances
such as ‘Vrindawan Ras Leela’; ‘Randol no Ghodo’;’Garbo Ram Laxman’ and many
musical performances of popular gujrati songs by orchestra. The exhilarating
and graceful performances brought out lively, spiritual and colorful life of
rural India. The teachers and students of M.K. Ponda College of Business and
Management also performed dance and musical performances which were appreciated
by the crowd. Later the audience also enjoyed dancing with the folk artistes in
the open garba round.
The students of MKPC were divided into four
groups and a garba competition was organised between them. Garba is a
traditional Gujarati folk dance and song which is performed mainly during the
nine-day Navratri festival, and is famous the world over. The folk dance is
performed by everyone and people of different religious beliefs enjoyed it. The
Garba dances celebrate feminine fertility, honour womanhood, and pay respect to
array of mother goddesses. It is a joyful style of dance, based on a circular
pattern which symbolizes cyclical concept of time in Hindu mythology. It is
performed by women. The dance is usually accompanied by Dholak
(percussion instrument), sound of claps and Shehnai (Indian clarinet).
Garba Fest 2018 was
sponsored by Go anywhere Holidays, Indraprasth, Mandelekar and Sons Sports Gallery,
Mahakal Automobiles, Opal IT solutions, Payal Jewellers, Shashwat Automobiles, Haribhumi
newspaper was the media partner. Many food and games stalls were also set up to
provide delicious food of Gujrat and different parts of the country.
Garba Fest 2018 ended with Durga Maha Arti and
distribution of Prasadam.
